Everybody loves playing Halo right? Well, here is chance for us halo players to compete to win $5000, or just compete for fun. The people at fraggednation.com are hosting a worldwide Halo 3 tournament online. The rules are as follows:

For the Frag Cup itself:

• There will be a total of 64 teams playing in the “Frag Cup” Tournament held by Machinima Respawn from 2 seperate ladders here on the site.
• 1 x North American Qualifier Ladder
• 1 X International Qualifier Ladder

Note: Please ensure you select the proper ladder above using one of the two ladder links above to sign up.

• The game mode is 4V4 Capture the Flag Ladder(s)
• Max team size is 7 total. 4 x players and 3 x substitutes for the qualifier.
• Ladder sign-ups are open today, April 30, 2010.
• Rules will be updated by Friday, May 7th, 2010.
• The Qualifying ladder seasons will begin at 5:00pm EST or 5:00pm GMT on Monday, May 10, 2010.
• The Qualifying ladder seasons will end on Tuesday, June 1st 2010
• Top 64 teams on the FraggedNation “Frag Cup” Qualifier ladders will receive Swag from Machinima and move on to the “Frag Cup” Tournaments.

• Top 64 teams will be placed into 4 separate brackets (16 teams per bracket) to compete and move towards the “Frag Cup” final four. Like the qualifying round, Tournament brackets will be 4v4, single elimination and will consist of 3 x North American Brackets and 1 x International Bracket.
• The top team within each bracket will receive $500 and will play against the other brackets top teams. Often refereed to as the Final Four.
• The Final “Frag Cup” team will receive the GRAND PRIZE of $5000 cash prize at the end of the Tournament.

Bungie, the creators of the “Halo” series, have just released more information regarding their latest project. They have released a new teaser video (Link is below) that gives us some small insight about the game. The title of the game is “Halo 3: Recon.”

In the trailer, it shows a pod crashing into a metropolitan area. After the pod crashes, and a marine fitted in ODST armor steps out. The soldier remains inside of the building, hiding from a covenant patrol that strolls by.

What could this mean about the plot? The trailer seems to take place in New Mombasa, which you might remember is the city that gets obliterated at the end of the Halo 2 level “Metropolis.” The story seems to be about a lone ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) left in the city to fend for himself.

What could this mean about the game play? Because the ODST chose to hide from the group of covenant, this game seems to be distancing itself from the conventional run and gun style of gameplay that the previous installments of the series had. Also, the gun he was wielding was equipt with a silencer. This leads me to believe that this game will be more of a COD4 (in a sense that one or two shots will kill the player) or maybe even a Metal Gear Solid type of game. It will be very interesting to watch this develop.
